Oceane’s thoughtful insights, analogies and teachings have changed my perceptions and use of my body. She has taught me greater body awareness, confidence and strength of movement.

Océane has been a mover since childhood. It was through movement she found refuge in her early stages of life. She went on to study dance at Idyllwild Arts Academy and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. She moved to NYC in 2004 where she danced professionally touring internationally and nationally with companies such as Shen Wei Dance Arts, Pucci Plus Dancers, AmDat, Forward Motion Theater, and others. She discovered Pilates with Terri Steele of Steele Pilates while training in NYC and felt immediate improvement in her performance and injury prevention. Océane quickly fell for Pilates and was certified at the Kane School of Core Integration in 2009 under the direction of Kelly Kane. She discovered her passion for teaching mind/body/spirit awareness using a more holistic approach. Through workshops with Irene Dowd, Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen, Eric Franklin, Liz Koch, and Amy Taylor-Alpers she integrates biomechanics, anatomy, embryology, and all the systems of the body into her teaching. She taught in NYC then moved to Paris in 2010, where she taught Pilates, learned French, and transmuted her love of dance into sculpture.  She had her daughter in 2013, moved to Ojai and has been teaching locally ever since.

Philosophy

Core begins with breath, from our first inhalation to our last. The pulse of our heart circulates this vital oxygen throughout the body. The digestive system is our second brain, housing most of our serotonin (our feel good endorphin) and glandular system.  Our first three energy centers (survival centers) hold most of our emotional trauma within the core.

Moving the body with intention and awareness to these aspects allows my clients to connect deeper into their inner orchestration.  The connective tissue (fascia) is a matrix of equal and opposite forces called Tensegrity; these laws of physics suspend the body structure into balance and grace. We form a close relationship with out pelvic floor, the root chakra, where our life force awaits activation. Océane stems her teaching from her extensive background in dance, yoga, meditation, and scientific studies of the body. Her generous spirit is encouraging through positive imagery and finding the humor in our human imperfection. Clients push themselves to their edge while maintaining relaxed and focused.  Playing with gravity, alignment, and precise movements, we liberate our physical, emotional and energetic selves. We celebrate our temples, our glorious bodies that carry us through life, walking forward embodied, present and pain free. It is my mission to bring this centered, up-leveled energy to my clients so they can make this world a better place.
